NEA Attends Key Workshop on Occupational Safety and Health Bill

22nd May 2025

Windhoek – The NEA recently participated in a validation workshop on the Occupational Safety and Health Bill, organized by the Ministry of Justice & Labour Relations.

The two-day event, which commenced on Tuesday 20th May and concluded on Wednesday 21th May, brought together various stakeholders committed to enhancing workplace safety standards in Namibia. The proposed Bill aims to ensure comprehensive protection for workers by addressing hazards that arise out of or in connection with activities at the workplace. It outlines duties and rights at work, as well as the responsibilities of employers in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

In her opening remarks, Deputy Executive Director Aune Mudjanima highlighted the importance of the Bill in safeguarding the wellbeing of workers across all sectors.

“The integral managing of occupational and non-occupational psychosocial hazards enhances the reduction of work-related incidents by implementing responsive control mechanisms,” emphasized Mudjanima.

The workshop served as a platform to gather input from stakeholders and validate the contents of the draft Bill before it moves to the next stage of the legislative process. The active participation of the NEA underlines the Government’s strong commitment to workplace safety and health reform.
